Tucked in a bend
of the Octoraro River on the Horseshoe Scout Reservation, Camp Ware
offers a great setting for a pack camping adventure with a variety of
camp sites to meet every pack's preference. Webelos can choose between
a traditional site with two man tents and latrine/wash house such as
Trapper or Leatherstocking, or a more modern site like Mohican with
three tent condos, a pavilion and small shower/toilet facility. |
Wolves and Bears
will appreciate the bunkhouse style amenities of Macaleer Lodge,
offering two floors, each having two leader sleeping rooms for four, and
a large dorm style area with bunk beds for 16 scouts. Each floor also
offers a large storage area for supplies, an eating area, full kitchen
and bathroom. We didn't forget to include a campfire ring outside! All
sites have a trained Site Guide to lead your group through the program. |

WHAT IS CAMP LIKE?
Your camping day
begins with a refreshing dip in the pool followed by breakfast in the
dining hall. Then it's off to activities such as handicrafts, BB's,
archery and nature with your fellow Scouts and leaders. After lunch and
a short siesta, it's back to the activity areas with your Site Guide
leading the way. Optional staff directed pack activities such as
fishing, cooking, nature hikes, more swimming or a service project
rounds out the afternoon.
Scouts will have worked up a big appetite so they might need a little
encouragement to get into Class A uniforms for the Formal Retreat at the
Parade Field right before dinner. A trip to the Trading Post before the
exciting camp wide evening activity, then perhaps a campfire back at
campsite before bed brings the day to a close. A cracker-barrel for
leaders will provide an opportunity to meet with the staff to review
that day and relax.
